Fringes CAN Relieve Frustration
Numbers 15:38-39 - Speak unto the children of Israel, and bid them that they make them fringes in the borders of their garments throughout their generations, and that they put upon the fringe of the borders a ribband of blue: And it shall be unto you for a fringe, that ye may look upon it, and remember all the commandments of the LORD, and do them; and that ye seek not after your own heart and your own eyes, after which ye use to go a whoring:
We all know fringes are an essential tool for combatting sin. In our moments of weakness we must endeavour to take a second to look at our fringes and apply the commandments. In the state of anger it is common strategy to take a deep breath and count to 10; looking at your fringes works by the exact same principle.
1 Corinthians 10:13 - There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
With soo many triggers and stressors in our day to day lives; looking at your fringes in many cases may only be one of the things we must do in a sequence of events to stay in the spirit. In other words we must distract ourselves from the thoughts sparking an aggressive reaction; whether this be by reading scriptures, speaking to a friend/counsellor or physically removing yourself from the situation.
Wisdom of Solomon 15:12- But they counted our life a pastime, and our time here a market for gain: for, say they, we must be getting every way, though it be by evil means.
Ecclesiastes 2:8 - I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, as musical instruments, and that of all sorts.
The Scriptures demonstrate that we had hobbies/pastimes (although having your priorities straight is vital). One example of such a person was King Solomon who had all sorts of hobbies that delighted him such as music.
Another pastime that is great for releasing frustration is sewing. Whether it be sewing garments, fringing a new top you bought from your favourite store or whatever the stream may be. Sewing definitely refocuses your attention in a constructive way.
So don’t let life’s dramas get the best of you. Do what you love, have fun whether it be by yourself or with your loved ones and remember...your fringes are always there for you when that anger demon presents itself.
